Counterstrike in Vista

whenever i try to play CS i get an error saying

is this because i have directx 10 and not 9?
how
do i downgrade to 9 or is there somewasy to fix this

So what card are we talking about? System info seems to be helpful here. Thanks -- system: AMD 64 3000, MSI k8t Neo,1.5 gig RAM, WD Raptor SATA 74G HD, eVGA 6800 GT, SB live value, Vista beta 2 64 bit/XP Pro 64 bit... Thanks, BJBB

In the release notes, it comes with this:
"Half Life Counterstrike will not completely start in Direct3D mode. To avoid this, contact your video card vendor to obtain the appropriate OpenGL driver and run the game in OpenGL mode. If you have started the game in Direct3D mode and it has stopped responding while displaying the "loading" screen, press the ESC key to return to the game menu."
Maybe if you follow those steps, it'll work :o) Hope this helps!
